We are pleased to announce that Alcatel (NYSE: ALA) is acquiring
Spatial Wireless
in a stock transaction valued at approximately $250 million. Spatial Wireless designs, builds and markets carrier class core switching network elements for supporting enhanced voice and data services across next generation packet-based wireless networks. Spatial Wireless's equipment is used by mobile-network operators and would give Alcatel improved access to the U.S. cellular-infrastructure market.
