We are pleased to announce that
Cisco Systems
(Nasdaq: CSCO) is acquiring
Riverhead Networks
. Cisco is buying all of the shares of Riverhead it does not already own for $39 million. Prior to this transaction, Cisco owned 10% of Riverhead. Riverhead develops advanced solutions for ISPs & MSPs that need to cope with extreme data overload conditions. In particular, Riverhead's solutions target Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) as well as "Flash Crowds". Riverhead will become part of Cisco’s Internet switching business unit.
